What is Cotton Polyester Fabric Used For?

This type of fabric allows consumers to meet both needs with a single product. Cotton stands out for its softness and skin-friendliness, while polyester offers wrinkle resistance, shape retention, and high durability. It is especially ideal for hotel textiles and frequently washed home bedding because it feels comfortable and maintains its shape for many years.

Technical Specifications of Cotton Polyester Fabric

The blend ratios directly affect the feel of the fabric. Generally, a %60 Cotton - %40 Polyester or a 50-50 balance is preferred. When combined with the percale weave technique, which creates a silky surface, these ratios create a perception of a bright and soft texture.

Feature Description / Value
Common Ratios %60 Cotton – %40 Polyester (Most popular combination)
Weave Type Generally Percale Weave
Appearance Cottony to bright, silky and smooth surface
Care Machine washable, quick drying, wrinkle-resistant

Is Cotton Polyester Fabric Thick or Thin?

Thickness depends more on the grammage of the fabric than the material itself. Standard bedding usually has thin weaves ranging from 110 gr/m² to 130 gr/m². However, values of 150 gr/m² and above provide a firmer and thicker texture. This allows for selection according to the season.

Is Cotton Polyester Fabric for Winter or Summer?

This blended fabric is suitable for both seasons but varies depending on the area of use:

  • Summer Use: Thanks to its high cotton content and thin (low grammage) percale weave, it is absorbent and keeps you cool.
  • Winter Use: Its warming properties are demonstrated when used in denser weaves (high grammage) or combined with additional layers such as fleece.

What is the Difference Between Cotton and Cotton-Polyester?

Pure cotton fabrics are softer but wrinkle easily, while blends are more durable. For example, in pure cotton, increasing the tel count increases softness, but there is a risk of shrinkage and wrinkling after washing. In blends, this risk is minimal.
